Daily Dose of Reading is a nonprofit organization that works with pediatricians and families to promote literacy.
-
DDR's First Annual Readathon - This year DDR will raise funds with the help of children and families across Northeast Ohio. DDR is putting together a Readathon which will take place in the fall of 2008. Children will seek sponsors then track their time reading during one week. After the week of reading, a reception will honor all participants. Children will go home with prizes for their efforts at supporting DDR. Individuals interested in volunteering or who want to learn more about participating should contact DDR at info@dailydoseofreading.org

In addition to collaboration with pediatric practices, Daily Dose of Reading now works with two MomsFirst programs. MomsFirst - a program of the Cleveland Health Department - is available to mothers in the City of Cleveland from the time they become pregnant until the babies are a year old. Women receive case management, home visiting services, and links to all types of services to help reduce the risk of infant mortality. DDR serves MomsFirst at the Goodrich-Gannett Neighborhood Center and the May Dugan Multi-Service Center. DDR has customized its training and materials so MomsFirst home visits now include hands-on educational information about language development, child development, and early literacy.
